Colorado ACTS Policies

  • We offer online tickets for all of our shows.
  • Tickets are available at the door on a limited basis. Seating is not guaranteed for sales at the door.
  • We offer special seating for disabled/elderly audience members. Please let us know of special needs 24 hours in advance of a performance.
  • All audience members are asked to respect the instructions of our box office personnel.

Parents Pay Once Policy

  • Colorado ACTS wants parents to be able to reasonably attend all of their students’ performance. This is why we keep our ticket prices very affordable.
  • Each parent must pay for all performances they wish to attend. Because of our new ticketing platform, it is necessary for anyone attending the performance to have a paid ticket. We cannot guarantee that any tickets will be available at the door.
  • We encourage parents to volunteer to help with concessions or ask their teacher if there are any other volunteer opportunities. Those volunteering in these capacities will receive FREE admission for themselves and one guest.
  • Parents are also encouraged to join the Box Office Volunteer Team. This volunteer opportunity allows FREE admission for the volunteer and one guest for the performance at which they are volunteering.

Sibling Discounts

  • Siblings and all other family members must pay for every performance attended.
  • Children 5 and under are free. If the show is sold out, young children may be asked to share a seat or sit on a parent’s lap.

Dinner Theater
All Dinner Theater performances must be paid in full for every performance attended.

Sibling Discounts
Sibling discounts are offered for siblings within the same class. A 10% discount is provided for each additional sibling student after the first full-price student. This discount will be applied automatically to your tuition total.

Tuition Payments

  • Tuition is due at registration.
  • Payment plans are available for some classes. You may choose a payment plan at checkout.
  • Overdue, unpaid account balances will result in a hold on the family’s account. No further class registrations will be accepted until the balance is cleared.

Tuition Refunds
Please consider carefully all other commitments and responsibilities before registering for a Colorado ACTS class to ensure that your student will be able to attend the classes, rehearsals, and performances. If a student is considering dropping a class, please discuss this with the director/teacher before dropping. Enrollment in a Colorado ACTS class is an important commitment and a student dropping directly impacts the entire class. Situations can often be resolved without the need for a student to drop a class, so communication is crucial for a good experience for our all our students and faculty.

Refund Policy for Regular Classes:

  • Students may attend the first two classes to make sure they are able to make a commitment to the class.
  • No refunds will be given for students who drop out of class after the second session.
  • If there is a balance on a family’s account when dropping after this second class, the balance will be due in full at that time.
  • If a student must drop a class due to COVID-19, refunds will be processed on a case-by-case basis.

Refund Policy for Summer Camps:

  • If a camper drops out of a camp with 7 or more days notice before the first day of class, a full refund of tuition will be given.
  • If a camper drops out of a camp with less than 7 days notice before the first day of class, a 50% refund of tuition will be given.
  • If a camper drops out of a camp once the camp has started, there are no refunds available. Rather, a prorated tuition credit will be issued upon request.

Colorado ACTS is committed to providing financial support to as many families as possible. As a small non-profit, often our aid funds are limited. We do offer several ways to help families reduce their tuition balances.

Scholarships
Limited scholarships are available. Visit our Scholarship Page to complete the application.

  • Colorado ACTS does not offer full scholarships for classes. In general, families should expect a scholarship of one-third of less of the total tuition.
  • Scholarships are not available for classes with tuition costs of $140 or less.
  • When registering, please choose the payment plan option. The first installment must be paid at registration.
  • If granted, scholarship funds will be applied to the outstanding balance. Any remaining balance will be auto-charged on the date of the scheduled payment plan.
  • Families receiving scholarship funds are expected to participate in fundraising and other community work events.

Work Study
Students receiving scholarship funds and those who wish to volunteer for Colorado ACTS are encouraged to inquire about opportunities for work study. Work study opportunities may include, but are not limited to, painting, set construction, backstage help, concessions/box office help, cleaning, lights/tech work, and Dinner Theatre assistance. Teachers, directors, and staff may reach out to students and their families for assistance as well.

Scrip
We encourage families to participate in our scrip program. All funds raised through this program goes directly to Colorado ACTS to fund our scholarship program.

Registration Terms & Conditions

Please read all sections of our Registration Terms & Conditions before registering for a class.

Be on time. Rehearsal is vital to the success of a show and tardiness costs the entire class.

Always bring your script and a pencil to rehearsal. Wear clothes appropriate for rehearsal. Please be aware of the commitment each class entails before enrolling.

Theater is a community activity and one student’s failure to come adequately prepared costs fellow students. We understand that students have many priorities in their lives. We attempt to keep our expectations in check. However, time spent on homework and memorization is required.
  • Memorize your lines and/or music. A general rule of theater is that once a scene is blocked, your lines should be memorized at the next rehearsal.
  • Memorize your cues, the lines or actions that come right before your lines.
  • Memorize your blocking and choreography. You need to know where and when and how you move on stage.
  • Work on characterization and physicality. Think about how your character might walk and talk. Practice different voices and movement at home so it will be more comfortable and effortless during rehearsal.

Except for audition only classes, all performance classes audition on the first day of class. Roles are then assigned and rehearsals begin. Unless you are notified differently, there is no preparation necessary for the initial auditions. Unless a class is billed as “audition only,” all students enrolled in the class are guaranteed a part in the play.

The process of casting a child or a young adult in a play is a delicate and difficult one. While the objective of classes at ACTS is to use all students as equally as we can, the unique demands of the theatre sometimes make this impossible. It is our expectation that all children leave the performance experience with a positive feeling. It is also our expectation that children who might be initially disappointed with their casting will still be engaged by the collaborative effort that it takes to put on a play.

Students are expected to come to every class unless:

  • he or she has a contagious illness.
  • he or she was excused ahead of time due to a prior commitment.
  • there is a family emergency.
  • the class itself is canceled.

If you do have to miss class, call/email your teacher(s) in advance so they can be properly prepared.

More than two excused absences could result in reassignment of roles in a performance class. Unexcused absence could result in dismissal from the class.

Everyone must attend final rehearsals and performances.

Theatre requires discipline, respect, and focus. The goal is a good experience for the individual student and also for the class as a whole. Inappropriate behavior may result in dismissal from class (without reimbursement). We expect all actors to be on their best behavior at all times. If anyone’s behavior becomes unmanageable a number of steps are followed: First a meeting with the parent and child is arranged. Frequently a parent is asked to stay in the classroom to help manage behavior. If that is not successful, a parent conference is scheduled with our behavior specialist and anyone else involved. If such behaviors continue, the actor may be dismissed and financial reimbursement requested if theatre property has been destroyed or damaged. Respect for oneself, others, class work, and facilities are demanded from everyone involved in the program. Students must be in good standing with the school before they can register for another class. This is decided on a case-by-case basis.

Specific behavior guidelines include, but are not limited to:

  • No use of foul or hurtful language.
  • Refraining from careless or purposeful destruction or misuse of property.
  • No smoking/vaping.
  • Students must remain on campus at all times.
  • No gum, ever. It impedes vocal production when singing and speaking and is all but impossible to clean up when left in the theatre.

Pick up is immediately after class ends. It is difficult for our staff to be responsible for children left at the facility more than ten minutes after a class ends. Many times we have commitments elsewhere. We do, however, understand that emergencies occur such as a stalled car or lost keys. During such times, please call the director(s).

Following the final performance the theater needs to put returned to its neutral state. The set comes down, costumes and props are put away, and the theater is cleaned. Actors will be required to stay and help with the strike process. Holding true to theatre tradition, all cast, crew are required to participate in strike. Families are welcome to assist. MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!

For most shows, fundraising is necessary. Families may be asked to participate in fundraising activities tied to their child’s production class. Please know that although we understand that no one likes to fundraise, it is a necessity at times in today’s economy and can give students a real sense of ownership of their production.
